Job Overview
Lyten is seeking a proactive and innovative Quality Engineer to join our Engineering team. This role bridges production, engineering and quality with a focus on ownership of production lines, problem‑solving, statistical analysis and process innovation.
Responsibilities- Production Line & Ownership
- Serve as the quality owner of assigned production lines (Pouch).
- Actively monitor and address in-line quality issues.
- Lead structured investigations using 5
Why, Fishbone and DOE methodologies. - Document and communicate findings with clear corrective and preventive actions.
- Reporting & Data Analysis
- Develop and deliver weekly quality reports with data visualization (JMP, Tableau or equivalent).
- Provide trend analysis and predictive insights tied to KPIs such as yield, failure rates and defect trends.
- Identify repetitive data tasks and implement automation using Python or R.
- Utilize metrology tools and services such as SEM, Karl Fisher, mass spectrometry, etc.
- Perform Gauge R&R and tolerance analyses.
- Training, Mentorship & Team Development
- Mentor technicians and junior engineers on root cause analysis, structured problem solving and quality methods.
- Support cross‑training between pouch and cylindrical lines to build scalable knowledge.
- Standards, Systems & Compliance
- Drive SOP creation and audits, ensuring full coverage of quality checks.
- Actively engage to maintain QMS and Non‑Conformance (NC) systems.
- Ensure timely closure of Corrective Actions (within 15 days) and Preventive Actions (within 3 months).
- Develop, document and own control plans.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Identify and lead innovation projects to improve process efficiency, reduce failure or solve recurring issues.
- Benchmark best practices through conference participation and bring learnings into implementation.
- Support the Engineering Manager in scaling processes across facilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, materials science or related technical field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in quality engineering.
- Minimum 2 years in battery cell manufacturing and/or development.
- Strong knowledge of DOE, SPC, FMEA, root cause analysis and ISO 9001 systems.
- Proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools (JMP, Minitab, Tableau or equivalent).
- Experience in Python or R for statistical analysis or automation.
- Excellent communication, documentation and cross‑functional collaboration skills, including reporting up to executive level.
- Preferred:
Experience in battery manufacturing (pouch, cylindrical, formation). - Familiarity with MES/QMS systems (Eyelit, Confluence, Jira).
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or similar qualification.
- Prior experience leading technicians or engineers.
- Must be able to sit, stand and use a computer for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to communicate effectively.
- Must be able to lift, up to 50 lbs.
- No physical limitations to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators when required.
- Must collaborate and work well with other team members.
- Must be able to occasionally work in a dry room setting.
Base salary range: $116,600 – $175,000. The level of pay within the range will depend on location, relevant prior experience, education or particular skills and expertise. In addition to base pay, the position is eligible for tier‑based bonus and equity, healthcare, dental, vision, corporate discounts, paid holidays, paid time off, sick time, 401(k), and an employee relocation plan (if applicable).
