Assistant Store Manager – Lucky – 1300 Fairmont Dr., San Leandro, CA 94578

Job Summary

The Assistant Store Manager works in tandem with the Store Manager to direct and lead all aspects of day‑to‑day store operations. In the absence of the Store Manager, the ASM is responsible for final decisions regarding store operations, managing store conditions, product quality, and inventory. The ASM leads front‑end and center‑store operations, assigns work, provides coaching and training, drives sales and gross profit, collaborates with perimeter department managers, and ensures compliance with laws and company programs.

Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities
  • Excellent leadership/team building skills; manages all front‑end store operations, oversees cash management, and develops staff shift schedules.
  • Provides training and coaching to team members, conducts performance reviews and disciplinary decisions.
  • Manages the in‑store training program and develops subject‑matter content.
  • Participates in recruitment, evaluates applicants, conducts interviews, and oversees hiring.
  • Supports the achievement of store‑wide sales goals; tracks and analyzes sales and profitability data.
  • Ensures compliance with sanitation, safety, security and other policies, and directs action plans.
  • Oversees inventory issues, vendor coordination, and product quality audits.
  • Directs and assigns work for product recalls, store cleanliness, and maintenance.

  • Knowledge of store operations and financials, hazardous materials, food safety rules, employment law, union contractual agreements, interviewing techniques, hiring practices.
Education

Four‑year college degree (or equivalent knowledge gained through formal education, specialized training, or additional job experience).

Experience

Two years of related experience.

Physical Requirements

Basic office environment: ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, stoop, and use stairs, reach, pull, and lift objects.
