Field Welder – San Leandro, CA

Peterson Cat has a need for a Field Welder based at our San Leandro, CA location.

This position performs welding and line‑boring processes for repair and custom fabrication projects in the weld shop and at customer sites.

• Maintain a safe working environment and observe all safety procedures, laws, policies, and rules.
• Communicate with internal and external customers to promote positive relationships.
• Travel to and from customer sites to perform maintenance and custom fabrication on equipment in the field.
• Operate welding and cutting equipment such as torch, welder, grinder, manual lathes, vertical and horizontal mills, portable line boring, and drill presses, along with other machine tools.
• Fabricate custom components and perform repair welds on parts; modify new and used equipment as directed.
• Write service reports that accurately document activities.
• Prepare required documentation including work orders, parts lists, and time cards accurately and in a timely manner.
• Perform line‑boring operations in the weld shop and at customer sites.
• Follow manufacturer and company installation and service guidelines and procedures to ensure quality work.
• Work overtime as needed within labor law guidelines.
• Operate company or personal vehicle as required.
• Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.

• Associate’s Degree from a fully accredited college in a related field; and a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience in welding/fitting, preferably in a heavy industrial environment; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Commercial driver’s license.
• Current DOT Medical Certificate.

Pay rate: $65.82 per hour, plus total compensation package.
