Field Welder

Peterson Cat has a need for a Field Welder based at our San Leandro, CA location.

This position performs welding and line-boring processes for repair and custom fabrication projects at in the weld shop and at customer sites.

Essential Job Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

• Maintain a safe working environment and observe all safety procedures, laws, policies, and rules.
• Communicate with internal and external customers in a manner that promotes a positive relationship.
• Travel to and from customer sites to perform maintenance and custom fabrication on equipment in the field.
• Operate welding and cutting equipment such as, Torch, Welder, Grinder, manual lathes, Vertical mills, Horizontal mills, Portable line boring, and Drill presses along with various other machine tools.
• Must be able to do prototype work to fabricate custom components and perform repair welds on components.
• Modify new and used equipment as directed.
• Write service reports that accurately document activities.
• Prepare required documentation including work orders, parts lists, and time cards in an accurate and timely manner to enable other employees to do their job in a timely manner.
• Perform line boring operations in the weld shop and at customer sites.
• Perform assigned tasks in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner.
• Follow manufacturer and company installation and service guidelines and procedures to ensure quality work.
• Work overtime as needed within labor law guidelines.
• Operate company or personal vehicle as needed
• Maintain punctual, regular and predictable attendance.

Qualifications include an Associates Degree from a fully accredited college in a related field; and a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience in welding/fitting, preferably in a heavy industrial environment; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

• Commercial driver's license and current DOT Medical Certificate

The pay rate for this position is: $65.82. We also offer a total compensation package in addition to base salary.
