Battery Manufacturing Technician – Battery Cell Assembly & Pilot Line Operations

We are seeking a Battery Manufacturing Technician with hands-on battery cell assembly experience to support pilot-line manufacturing operations. This role is best suited for candidates who have direct experience building lithium-ion battery cells, operating production equipment, troubleshooting manufacturing issues, and working closely with engineering teams to improve processes.

The ideal candidate can clearly explain the battery products they have worked on, understands the assembly process from start to finish, and is comfortable identifying production issues and participating in root cause investigations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform battery cell assembly processes, including:
    • Electrode handling
    • Cell stacking
    • Tab welding
    • Electrolyte filling
    • Vacuum sealing
    • Formation preparation
  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment and production tools.
  • Identify process, equipment, and quality issues and assist with root cause analysis.
  • Follow and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, quality, and throughput.
  • Maintain detailed production records, traceability documentation, and process logs.
  • Adhere to dry room, laboratory, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineers, technicians, and production team members.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on lithium-ion battery assembly experience in a manufacturing, pilot-line, or laboratory environment.
  • Experience assembling battery cells and operating battery manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to explain the battery products, cell formats, and manufacturing processes worked on in previous roles.
  • Experience identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving manufacturing or equipment issues.
  • Ability to follow detailed manufacturing procedures and engineering instructions.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical work clearly and effectively.
  • Demonstrated attention to quality, safety, and process compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with pouch, prismatic, cylindrical, or other lithium-ion cell formats.
  • Experience supporting process development, pilot-line operations, or scale-up manufacturing.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
  • Familiarity with dry room operations and laboratory safety protocols.
  • Experience collaborating directly with engineering teams to improve manufacturing processes and equipment performance.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Leandro, CA.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
