Summary

The Control Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing industrial control systems and automation equipment. This role ensures reliable operation of PLCs, instrumentation, sensors, and control networks to support a safe and efficient production process.

Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and maintain PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on control equipment.
  • Calibrate and maintain field instruments (pressure, flow, temperature, level).
  • Analyze system faults and implement corrective actions.
  • Support continuous improvement and automation projects.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, and control schematics.
  • Work with maintenance and operations team to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations (e.g., OSHA).
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance and system changes.
Software, Platforms & Tools
  • PLC Programming Software:
    Rockwell Automation (Studio 5000 / RSLogix 5000), Siemens (optional)
  • HMI/SCADA Platforms:
    Ignition SCADA (Inductive Automation), Factory Talk View / SE & ME
  • Industrial Networking & Communication:
    Ethernet/IP, Modbus (RTU/TCP), Profibus, Profinet
  • Network troubleshooting tools: wireshark, RSLinx
  • CMMS: FIIX, CMMS PM or similar platforms
  • Drives & Motion Software
  • Data & Diagnosis Tools:
    Ignition Tag Historian and report modules, trend and diagnostics tools for process analysis
  • Calibration software and handheld communicators (HART, Field Communicator), laptop-based diagnostic and programming tools
Requirements
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation, or related field is nice to have; candidate with work experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience working with industrial control systems.
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs (Allen‑Bradley), motor control systems and VFDs, industrial networks (ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus), ability to troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Familiarity with safety practices such as LOTO and arc flash is nice to have; candidates will be trained on both.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in manufacturing environments (food & beverage, dairy, or processing plants).
  • Strong experience with SCADA platform (development, troubleshooting, upgrades).
  • Understanding of process control loops and PID tuning.
  • Ability to work with CMMS systems.
  • Problem solving and analytical thinking, attention to detail, strong communication and teamwork, time management and ability to prioritize tasks, technical troubleshooting expertise.
Work Environment
  • Industrial / Manufacturing setting.
  • Exposure to machinery, electrical systems, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
