Controls Technician III - Hire Now Staffing (Direct Placement Partner)
San Leandro, California.
This onsite contract opportunity is ideal for an experienced industrial automation professional with extensive expertise in PLC programming, instrumentation, SCADA systems, industrial networking, and preventive maintenance. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining reliable manufacturing operations by troubleshooting complex control systems, supporting automation initiatives, and minimizing production downtime.
Key Responsibilities- Install, configure, maintain, and optimize PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical controls, instrumentation, automation equipment, and industrial control systems
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on automation and process control equipment
- Calibrate field instrumentation including pressure, temperature, flow, and level devices
- Analyze system failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective solutions
- Support continuous improvement projects and automation system enhancements
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and control schematics
- Partner with maintenance and operations teams to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and established safety procedures
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, equipment modifications, and system updates
- Minimum 5 years of experience supporting industrial control systems within a manufacturing environment
- Strong hands‑on experience with Allen‑Bradley PLCs using Studio 5000 and RSLogix 5000
- Experience troubleshooting motor control systems and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Experience supporting SCADA and HMI platforms
- Knowledge of industrial networking protocols including Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, and Profinet
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, and control schematics
- Strong electrical, instrumentation, and automation troubleshooting skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work safely within an industrial manufacturing environment
- Ability to work onsite in San Leandro, California
- U.S.
-based applicants only - Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, or related field (equivalent experience will be considered)
- Experience with Ignition SCADA, Factory Talk View SE, and Factory Talk View ME
- Experience with FIIX, Maximo, SAP PM, or similar CMMS platforms
- Familiarity with HART communicators and calibration equipment
- Experience with in food, beverage, dairy, or industrial processing facilities
- Knowledge of PID tuning and process control loops
- Familiarity with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and Arc Flash safety standards
- Experience supporting automation modernization and continuous improvement initiatives
- Compensation: $40.00 per hour
