Overview

Ophthalmology Physician Job In California

A Comprehensive Ophthalmologist is responsible for diagnosing and treating patients with glaucoma, a condition that damages the optic nerve and can lead to blindness if left untreated. The specialist will perform comprehensive eye exams, including measuring eye pressure, examining the optic nerve, and testing visual fields. They will also develop treatment plans, which may include medication, laser therapy, or surgery, and monitor patients' progress over time.

The specialist will work closely with other eye care professionals, such as optometrists and ophthalmologists, to provide the best possible care for their patients.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and treat glaucoma and related eye conditions.
  • Perform comprehensive eye exams, including measuring eye pressure, examining the optic nerve, and testing visual fields.
  • Develop treatment plans which may include medication, laser therapy, or surgery.
  • Monitor patient progress over time and adjust treatment as needed.
  • Collaborate with optometrists and other eye care professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
Qualifications
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
  • Completion of an ophthalmology residency program
  • Fellowship training in glaucoma
  • Board certification in ophthalmology and glaucoma
  • Valid medical license in the state of California
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
