The newly created series of classes in Ranch Education are part of the non-credit Vocational Education Program at Cuesta.
The primary goal of the Ranch Education classes is to create farm and ranch employees and managers who have a basic grounding in animal handling and care, ranch design and maintenance, pasture maintenance and herding techniques. Emphasis will be placed on regenerative, holistic and sustainable practices to address practical, environmental, cultural and ecological challenges. Students will gain practical hands-on experience in ranch design and repair, forage and pasture management, machinery.
Selected applicants will be interviewed to establish a pool of approved instructors for possible part-time teaching assignments in the Continuing Education and Special Programs Division. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for Ranch Education.
Assignments may be day, evening, or weekend classes at the San Luis Obispo Campus, the North County Campus, South County Center, other sites within San Luis Obispo County, or distance education.

Serving all of San Luis Obispo County, Cuesta College has provided comprehensive associate degree offerings, certificates, and community programs to the region since 1964. The main campus is located along scenic Highway 1, west of San Luis Obispo and east of the beaches of the Pacific Ocean. Cuesta College has a North County Campus in Paso Robles, and South County Center, in Arroyo Grande.

Essential Functions & Qualifications
To be considered for the Ranch Education discipline:
Required:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and two years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught.
OR
An associate degree from an accredited institution; and six years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught. from an accredited institution;
Also
Required:
* Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Desirable:
* Teaching experience in the discipline, community college level preferred;
-Awareness of the philosophy and objectives of California Community Colleges.
