graphic communication department, part‑time lecturer pool. The graphic communication department at california polytechnic state university, san luis obispo is seeking applications for a pool of part‑time lecturers. Positions will be available as needed and funded during the fall, winter, and/or spring quarter of the 2025‑2026 academic year, which begins september 11, 2025.
responsibilities and duties- teach one or more subjects in both lecture and lab settings or co‑teach with tenure‑track faculty.
- use adobe creative suite applications, digital workflow, file preparation for various output processes.
- conduct color management, including calibration, profiling, and process control across different media and printing technologies.
- perform offset, flexo, digital, and specialty printing tasks from prepress to print production.
- design and prototype packaging.
- apply digital photography, image processing, light techniques, and motion graphics for printing and digital applications.
- develop cross‑media marketing, brand communication strategies, omni‑channel campaigns, and audience engagement across print, digital, and emerging media.
- implement front‑end development for web‑based interfaces.
- manage business aspects of graphic communication, including production, project, quality management, estimation, workflow optimization, sustainability, and strategic decision‑making in print and digital media industries.
initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the lecturer a or b rank. As of july 2024, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:
- lecturer a: $5,507‑$6,677
- lecturer b: $6,221‑$13,224
- lecturer c: $6,825‑$14,523
- lecturer d: $8,593‑$15,221
