City Farm SLO is seeking an experienced and passionate Farm Education Manager . This role works closely with the Farm Education Coordinator and other education staff to strengthen program quality, curriculum, and coordination through evaluation systems, administrative support, and relationship building. Additionally, the Farm Education Manager will expand our Community Program offerings to further develop an informed local consumer base for a healthier food system.
This role is part-time at 25-30 hours per week with opportunities for future growth.
City Farm SLO (CFS) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower the next generation to live healthier, more prosperous lives through sustainable agriculture and farm-based education. We work toward this mission by educating SLO County youth with farm-based programming ,enabling small farmers in sustainable crop production, modeling innovative agricultural practices, and engaging a diverse community of people.
Primary Responsibilities Program Quality & Curriculum (30%)- Collaborate with Education Team to evaluate and update all program curricula annually
- Create and implement staff training materials
- Coordinate data collection and reporting for education grants and contracts.
- Maintain program metrics, participant records, and outcome tracking systems across all education programs.
- Prepare reports, success stories, and supporting documentation for grant reports and funder updates.
- Assist with grant writing and management specific to education programs. Maintain program descriptions, outcome reports, budgets, and supporting documentation.
- Develop and maintain relationships with partnering teachers and school district leadership.
- Expand programming to additional school districts.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local instructors, farmers, and community groups to expand community education offerings.
- Expand City Farm's public workshops, classes, and community events.
- Develop and coordinate an annual calendar of community education programming that aligns with City Farm's mission and strategic goals.
- Lead the scheduling, logistics, registration, staffing, and participant communications for community education programs. Collaborate with other City Farm Staff to promote and manage events.
- Evaluate participant feedback and program outcomes to continuously improve offerings.
Increase earned revenue through fee-based workshops, training, and educational experiences while maintaining equitable access.
- Schedule program staffing with educators, interns, and fellows.
- Develop training materials, SOPs, and lead educator training
- Observe programs and provide coaching
- Minimum 2 years of experience managing educational, youth development, environmental education, outdoor education, agricultural education, or community-based programs
- Minimum 2 years experience supervising and coordinating staff, interns, or volunteers
- Experience developing, adapting, or implementing educational curricula, lesson plans, or training materials
- Alignment with City Farm SLO’s mission and values
- Ability to pass a background check and access to reliable transportation
- California Multiple Subject, Single Subject, or Education Specialist Teaching Credential (current or expired), or equivalent formal teaching experience
- Experience with NGSS and California Health Education Standards
- CPR/First Aid certification
- $28-30/hour, DOE. Part time at 25-30 hours/week.
