The Mechanical Engineering Department in the College of Engineering at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, is seeking full‑time lecturer positions for the 2026‑2027 academic year, with a possibility of a one‑year extension for the 2027‑2028 academic year contingent on departmental need and satisfactory evaluations. Primary duties will be teaching fundamental courses in Mechanical Engineering, such as design communication, engineering mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, or mechanical design.

• Teach undergraduate core courses in Mechanical Engineering.
• Develop course materials, assignments, and assessments.

Applicants should have earned a Bachelor’s Degree (BSME) in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field, demonstrate a commitment to student‑centered teaching, and be able to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary settings. • Advanced degrees in Mechanical Engineering or closely related fields.

The department has over 1,300 BSME undergraduates and 50 MSME students.
