appointments from the part-time pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants must be available on very short notice.

the industrial technology, packaging, and entrepreneurship area in the orfalea college of business at cal poly is seeking applications for a pool of part-time lecturers and lab instructors during the fall and/or spring semesters of the 2026-27 academic year, which begins august 17, 2026. Positions are available as determined by need and funding for teaching assignments in industrial automation and manufacturing technologies (e.g., cad/cam, basic plc and robot programming, setup/operation of cnc mills and lathes), industrial power systems, industrial safety and quality program leadership, product design and development (e.g., solidworks, fusion 360, artioscad, keyshot, rhinoceros, prototyping, sketching, rendering), supply chain management and logistics, operations planning and control, lean six sigma, commercialization of new technologies, and professional technical selling.

Assignments are contingent upon class availability, scheduling, budget and enrollments.

initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the lecturer a or b rank. As of july 2026, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:

lecturer a: $5,507-$6,677

lecturer b: $6,221-$13,224

lecturer c: $6,825-$14,523

lecturer d: $8,593-$15,211
