Under the general supervision of the Associate Director Space Optimization, the Facilities CAD & GIS Specialist provides architectural and engineering GIS Modeling, CAD drafting, analysis, and document management. This position updates the campus electronic library of buildings, grounds and infrastructure documents, plans, and maps. The position is responsible for the coordination of the Facilities Plan Room, which includes scanning, labelling, uploading, filing, and auditing all stored files.
DepartmentSummary
Facilities Management and Development (FMD), a unit within the Administration and Finance Division (AFD), is responsible for the planning, design, construction, operations, maintenance, and repair of university facilities, grounds, and infrastructure. FMD consists of four critical and interdependent support departments, including Customer & Business Services;
Energy, Utilities, & Sustainability;
Facilities Planning & Capital Projects; and Facilities Operations. - Maintain and update the static AutoCAD floorplan for all campus facilities. Track updates, ensure accuracy, and publish updated map to the university website.
- Receive and process final AutoCAD floor plans and as-builts from the Project Management team as part of project closeout procedure. Document and store within the Electronic Plan Room for future reference.
- Maintain and organize the historical CAD file library to ensure efficient use by project managers and Facilities Operations staff.
- Maintain and update the Interactive Campus Map for all campus locations (SLO and Solano). Manage version controls and develop additional "layers" to capture assets, features, or project updates on campus
- Manage maps of roads, paths, trails and other way finding elements. Conduct field investigations by taking on-site measurements, making sketches, and collecting data to provide specifications for alterations, improvements, as-builts, and project modeling.
Associates of Arts degree or equivalent with extensive coursework in drafting technology, engineering or a related discipline AND four years of progressively responsible drafting experience. One year of specialized drafting experience may be substituted for the required education.
Licenses, Certificates, Credentials- GIS Professional or Academic Certification preferred. One year of specialized GIS experience.
Anticipated Hiring Range: $69,444 - $86,340 per year
Classification Range: $69,444 - $101,160 per year
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Anticipated Hiring Range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Classification Range may be broader than what the University anticipates paying for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
