The RoleOur site in San Luis Obispo, CA is seeking a New Product Introduction Engineering Co-Op to join our team for the Fall 2026 season. This assignment is intended to be 6 months in duration.
In this role, your primary responsibility will be to drive the successful pull of products (in this case: Gas Purification Systems, from Development to Manufacturing utilizing a Stage Gate Process.) You will use your skills/experience to influence product development teams to improve design for manufacturability, while ensuring the highest levels of quality. Achieving this goal will require the use of collaboration, influence, and individual skills to interface with all functions across the organization.
As part of Entegris' Operations team, the NPI Engineer will work closely with the Production cell team to ensure Manufacturing Readiness of the new products and their processes. You will engage with the Manufacturing Engineers, NPD Engineers, Quality Engineers, R&D Engineers, Production Supervisors, and Operators to drive the successful transition of products from early development to product release.
What You'll Do- Serve as a core team member for assigned NPI Projects as the liaison between NPD Engineering and Operations, pulling products to market.
- Work closely with NPD Engineering to proactively influence product and process design for better manufacturability.
- Participate in the Development of Manufacturing Plans for assigned projects. Topics include manufacturability, raw and finished goods material planning, chemical/waste plan, ramp/capacity planning, cost roadmap, etc.
- Participate and contribute to Improvement Projects (yield, process capability, etc.) to maximize Gross Margin, Predictability and Repeatability. Potentially lead a subproject under a larger project.
- Prepare Process Documentation to support Product Launch.
- Manage customer samples and V&Q builds. Work with Operations team to provide special instructions as required.
- Assist in directing and controlling processes in accordance with defined policies and procedures. Assists with analyses and audits on processes in order to make recommendations on such items as safety, quality, cost, waste reductions, and efficiency.
- Work with NPD Technicians to help outline the build process for new products and assist in refining the outline where additional instruction is needed.
- Assist in developing VWIs (Visual Work Instructions) to provide a step-by-step build process of new systems for Operators to follow.
- Review Routing Reports and verify that Work Centers, Control Keys, Time Standards, and Operation Descriptions have been clearly defined and are accurate.

- Excellent documentation, communication, and technical writing skills.
- Ability to orchestrate and prioritize multiple activities at once to accomplish Division goals.
- Desired Major:
Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or similar major. - Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program with a graduation date of May
2027or later.
- Must be a currently enrolled student
- Available to work 40 hours a week, M-F (8a-5p) beginning in mid-May/June through August/September.
- Must be familiar with the university's requirements to participate in a co-op program
- Entegris is not currently hiring candidates for co-ops/internships who will need, now or at any time in the future, Entegris sponsorship through the H1-B lottery.
May need to lift up to 30 lbs.
