We are looking for a
Deputy Inspector to join our team in
San Luis Obispo, CA

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform field tests to evaluate soil composition, compaction, density, moisture content, and load-bearing capacity
  • Conduct detailed construction inspections to verify compliance with design specs, blueprints, schematics, and safety standards
  • Sample and prepare concrete test cylinders for compressive strength testing
  • Use a nuclear density gauge to verify that soil and aggregate materials meet project specifications
  • Maintain detailed records of field observations, test results, and project compliance to report findings to engineers and project managers
  • Ensure that concrete and soil-related aspects of a project meet industry standards, building codes and environmental regulations
  • Work with civil/geotechnical engineers, project managers, and contractors to address concrete and soil-related challenges on job sites
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Required Certifications
    :
  • Portable Nuclear Gauge Certification
  • ACI
    :
    Concrete Field-testing Grade I certification
  • ICC
    :
    Structural Steel & Bolting and Soils Inspector
  • Preferred: ICC certifications in Reinforced Concrete, Structural Masonry, Pre-stressed/Post-tensioned Concrete
  • Understanding of ASTM, AASHTO, and local regulatory standards
  • A strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety
  • Valid driver’s License with clean driving record (required for company vehicle use)
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 75 lbs
  • Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Must be able to walk, stand, and work on uneven terrain for extended periods

Hourly Compensation

$35 - $45 per hour
