Job Description
THIS IS A VOLUNTEER POSITION ON A CITY ADVISORY BODY.
Annual recruitment is open through Sunday, March 29, 2026. Interviews will be scheduled following close of recruitment. On June 16, 2026, City Council will make final appointments during their Regular Meeting and terms will begin July 1, 2026. Applicants that meet minimum qualifications will remain on file for one year and will be considered if unscheduled vacancies occur.
There are currently two positions open due to unscheduled vacancies: one is for a member of the Housing Authority’s tenant population, and the other is for a citizen‑at‑large member.
The Housing Authority (HA) is directly responsible for all operations of the Housing Authority. It approves applications for federal and state housing programs, approves the authority’s annual operating budgets, and assists the City in addressing housing needs of low and medium income households.
Meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at noon in the Housing Authority office located at 487 Leff Street, San Luis Obispo, CA.

Typical Qualifications- Appointments to the Housing Authority are not subject to residency requirements. Five of the members are at‑large and are appointed by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by the Council, to four‑year terms. The other two members are appointed by the Mayor from the Housing Authority’s tenant population and each serves a two‑year term. At least one of the tenant members must be 62 years of age or older.
- All members must file a public Statement of Economic Interests as required by the Fair Political Practices Commission.
- All members must complete two hours of AB 1234 Ethics Training within the first year of assuming office and every two years thereafter.
