San Luis Coastal Unified School District represents the communities of Avila, Edna Valley, Los Osos, Morro Bay, and San Luis Obispo and currently has an enrollment of approximately 7,500 students. Job Summary
Translators with the San Luis Coastal Unified School District provide oral interpretation during confidential meetings and hearings; and may translate written materials from English to Spanish (or another specified foreign language) including such materials as District forms, brochures, school handbooks, forms and letters, curriculum outcomes, and assessments; prepare documents in a manner suitable for reproduction and mailing.
Hours are dependent on site or department need, as this is an on-call position with no guarantee of regular hours. Translators may accept assignments based on their preferred locations and their availability.
Requirements / Qualifications

Fingerprint and TB clearance will be required prior to starting work.
Applications will be screened and evaluated for relevant knowledge, skills, abilities and experience on a job-related basis. Candidates who successfully pass screening and have submitted all required documents will proceed to a written and oral assessment.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Knowledge of correct language structure, syntax, and usage, both English and Spanish or another specified foreign language, including grammar, spelling, pronunciation, punctuation, vocabulary, and comprehension, office procedures, computer equipment, and word processing programs. Exceptional ability to speak, read, and write fluently in both English and Spanish or another specified foreign language; ability to utilize or quickly learn to utilize computer equipment and word processing software to enter and generate documents;
communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
On call work on limited basis. Willingness to work in person required. Work may be at school sites or at the District Office.
