Under general supervision of the Assistant Director of Landscape & Horticultural Services, the Irrigation Specialist maintains and repairs grounds irrigation systems including modification of existing systems and the planning, cost estimating, and installation of new systems. The Irrigation Specialist performs specialized work on irrigation systems in grounds areas for a major portion of the incumbent’s work time. Irrigation Specialists may occasionally be assisted by Lead Grounds workers, Grounds workers or other Specialists in irrigation system maintenance and repair work which may include maintenance of sprinkler heads, minor repairs to sprinkler lines and setting clocks on automatic control devices.

Facilities Management and Development (FMD), a unit within the Administration and Finance Division (AFD), is responsible for the planning, design, construction, operations, maintenance, and repair of university facilities, grounds, and infrastructure. FMD consists of four critical and interdependent support departments, including Customer & Business Services;
Energy, Utilities, & Sustainability;
Facilities Planning & Capital Projects; and Facilities Operations. • Repair broken sprinkler lines, sprinkler heads, valves and related equipment.
• Clear blockages from valves and pipes.
• Inspect service, maintain and repair automatic sprinkler control devices.
• Perform irrigation efficiency testing to ensure proper coverage and make necessary changes to correct deficiencies.
• Stay up to date on the latest irrigation materials and technologies available, keeping improved efficiency in mind

• Two years of experience in the care and maintenance of landscaped areas or general grounds, with one year in the maintenance, repair, or modification of irrigation systems and irrigation equipment.

• Possession of a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

Anticipated Hiring Range:$51,504 - $62,784 per year
Classification Range: $44,832 - $62,784 per year

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Anticipated Hiring Range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Classification Range may be broader than what the University anticipates paying for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
