Manufacturing Engineer
Job Summary
The Composite Technician collaborates with engineering and production teams to fabricate high-quality composite structures using carbon fiber materials. This role is responsible for performing wet lay‑up and pre‑preg processes, assembling and bonding composite components, and ensuring all work meets engineering specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilitiesand Duties
- Lay out, assemble, pre‑fit and bond carbon composite or laminate fabrications, assemblies, parts, skins or equipment
- Cut fabric and hand wet lay‑up of carbon fiber material
- Use shop math and measuring instruments
- Obtain information from prints, charts, sketches, work orders, documents and verbal and electronic information
- Follow engineering and manufacturing specifications
- Operate curing ovens to complete curing cycles
- Sand, burr, smooth, bond and seal
- Perform rework or repair
- Perform routine minor machine maintenance
- Operate ovens to complete bonding cycle
- Minimum 1 year composites fabrication experience
- Quick learner, hard‑working with skilled hands
- Basic knowledge of CAD/CAM or similar tools
- Read CAD drawings, engineering sketches and communicate challenges to small engineering teams
- Excellent work ethic and attendance
- Understand process methods and sequences
- Understanding of ply orientations and vacuum bagging processes
- Able to lift assemblies weighing up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to verbally communicate, read and comprehend written and verbal instructions, and be capable of doing basic mathematical calculations
- High attention to detail
- Perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner
- Familiarity with windows‑based personal computers
- Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision
- Experience working with composites, resins, adhesives, coatings, or measurement tools
- Familiarity with crafting, woodworking, or precision assembly
- Experience interpreting engineering documentation and GD&T
- Computer literacy and experience with process tracking documentation
- Willingness to be cross‑trained in multiple areas of finishing

This position is fully on‑site at ESAero in San Luis Obispo, CA.
