Description:
The role involves assisting surgeons and anesthesiologists during surgical procedures. It requires coordinating the flow of equipment, supplies, and staff during these procedures. Ensuring patient safety throughout the perioperative phase of care is a key responsibility. Participation in patient care planning, assessment, and nursing treatment is expected. Candidates must be competent to circulate in the operating room during surgical procedures. Knowledge of and adherence to aseptic techniques is essential.
Candidates must be able to safely operate all equipment routinely utilized in the operating room. Preparation of patients for surgery, including safe anatomical positioning, is required. Competence in pre-, intra-, and post-procedure patient care planning and assessment is essential. Safe handling and disposal of biohazardous materials from operative procedures must be practiced. Accessing information systems to retrieve relevant information for patient care is necessary.
Demonstrating knowledge and skills related to patient safety, security, and emergency preparedness is required. Documentation of temperature of tissue and verification of package integrity is required. Efficient use of downtime for job-related tasks, such as chart auditing and cleaning, is expected. Additional job-related duties may be assigned as needed. This position requires adherence to safety and wellbeing protocols for associates and patients.
