Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage Labor & Delivery unit operations on-site, ensuring patient safety and timely care.
  • Provide expert nursing care for obstetric patients and newborns, in accordance with standards.
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, and delegation to maintain adequate coverage per shift.
  • Develop and monitor quality metrics, pass rates, and patient outcomes to drive improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, safety protocols, and hospital policies.
  • Collaborate with physicians and support staff to coordinate complex cases and transfers.
  • Mentor and coach nurses, promoting professional development and advancement opportunities.
  • Manage patient flow and throughput using pipelines and dashboards to optimize outcomes.
  • Lead infection prevention initiatives and maintain a safe, clean clinical environment.
  • Handle performance appraisals, feedback, and recognition to reinforce merit-based growth.
  • Participate in budget management and supply chain decisions for the unit.
Experience/Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse with California RN license and L&D specialty certification.
  • Strong clinical expertise in obstetric and neonatal care, with evidence of patient-safety outcomes.
  • Minimum 5 years L&D nursing experience with 2+ years in leadership roles.
  • Proven ability to manage staffing, scheduling, and delegation for 24/7 shifts.
  • Experience in quality improvement, data dashboards, and patient throughput optimization.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards (CMS, JCAHO, HIPAA) and hospital policies.
  • Infection prevention leadership and safe-patient environment maintenance.
  • Budget management, supply chain decisions, and cost-control for the unit.
  • Mentorship and professional development coaching for nursing staff.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication with physicians, support staff, and transfers.
