RNFA Day Shift

Nestled on the Central California Coast, Adventist Health Sierra Vista has been providing care to our community since 1959. Our 162‑bed acute care facility includes a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and county‑designated trauma center. Assists the surgeon in the first assistant role, as defined by the privileges established through the Medical Staff Office/credentialing process, as an Allied Health professional. The RNFA can act only as the RNFA, not a scrub or circulating RN, during a surgical procedure, concurrently. This position is represented by CNA.

• Associate Degree (A.S.) or equivalent:

• Three years experience as a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room:

• Start credentialing process through Medical Staff upon acceptance of position:

• Current RN license in state of practice:

• Basic Life Support (BLS or HS‑BLS or RQIBLS) certification:

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support):

• Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR):

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS or HS‑PALS or RQIPALS) certification:

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS or RQIACLS):

• Compete to provide exposure of the surgical wound intraoperatively under supervision of the surgeon; consistently apply aseptic technique.
• Provide hemostasis intraoperatively under supervision of the surgeon, and care for/dress the surgical wound with appropriate manipulation of tissue.
• Safely handle and dispose of biohazardous materials from operative procedures.
• Access facility information systems to retrieve and utilize pertinent information for patient care and other duties.
• Safely and appropriately fulfill job‑specific responsibilities related to patient safety, security, emergency preparedness, hazardous materials, life safety, medical equipment and utility systems per the Hospital’s environment of care plan.
• Document temperature of tissue/allografts, verify package integrity, and deliver to sterile field per manufacturer guidelines; record in appropriate tissue log book and efficiently manage multiple tasks.
• Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
