Job Summary
Under general supervision of the Facilities Operations Manager of University Housing Maintenance, the Plumber performs the full range of skilled journey-level plumbing work including the installation, maintenance, inspection, modification, remodel and repair of mechanical plumbing equipment and fixtures for water, gas, oil, steam, sewage, fire sprinkler/prevention, and refrigeration-related plumbing systems.
Department SummaryFacilities Management and Development (FMD), a unit within the Administration and Finance Division (AFD), is responsible for the planning, design, construction, operations, maintenance, and repair of university facilities, grounds, and infrastructure. FMD consists of four critical and interdependent support departments, including Customer & Business Services;
Energy, Utilities, & Sustainability;
Facilities Planning & Capital Projects (FPCP); and Facilities Operations. - Maintain, troubleshoot and test plumbing systems, including backflow prevention devices.
- Assemble, install and repair pumps, pipes, fittings, and fixtures.
- Cut, thread and weld pipes.
- Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings and pipes composed of a variety of metals and materials.
- Any combination of progressively responsible training and experience which demonstrates achievement of journey-level skills equivalent to that acquired through completion of a standard plumber’s apprenticeship program.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain by date of hire. This position may require the ability to obtain AHERA Supervisor certification for asbestos related work and Cal/OSHA Lead training as well as the ability to wear respiratory protection. A Cal/OSHA mandated medical evaluation is required prior to the use of a respirator.
Anticipated Hiring Range: $76,380 - $94,968 per year
Classification Range: $71,976 - $104,844 per year
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Anticipated Hiring Range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Classification Range may be broader than what the University anticipates paying for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
