Senior Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in San Marcos, California. This role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail and a solid background in financial reporting, inventory accounting, and audit preparation. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records while driving process improvements across accounting operations.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes to deliver accurate and audit-ready financial statements.

- Prepare and post journal entries in Net Suite, ensuring compliance and proper documentation.

- Manage balance sheet reconciliations, journal entry logs, and closing work papers.

- Handle inventory accounting, including system-to-physical reconciliations and adjustments, while supervising physical inventory counts.

- Address agriculture-specific inventory matters such as yield variances, shrinkage, and spoilage.

- Develop and present internal and external financial statements and management reports.

- Provide support for audits, tax filings, and annual reporting requirements.

- Collaborate with operations teams to enhance inventory accuracy, costing methods, and accounting procedures.

- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline close processes and system workflows. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

- 5-8 years of accounting experience with a focus on general ledger maintenance and month-end close processes.

- Proven ability to lead month-end close in multi-entity or complex operational settings.

- Expertise in preparing audit-ready financial statements and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

- Proficiency in advanced Excel functions, including lookups, pivot tables, and reconciliation formulas.

- Experience with ERP systems, with Net Suite highly preferred.

- Knowledge of inventory accounting, including reconciliations and physical inventory counts.

- Preferred experience in agriculture, food production, manufacturing, or similar inventory-intensive industries.
