Compensation: $90,000 - $130,000 DOE
An established and growing company in San Marcos is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and support the organization’s financial health. The ideal candidate has a well-rounded accounting background, prior leadership experience, and the ability to balance hands-on accounting responsibilities with financial oversight and strategic support.
Responsibilities:- Oversee general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes
- Prepare and review financial statements, balance-sheet reconciliations, and management reports
- Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash-flow projections
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
- Analyze financial performance and provide meaningful insights to company leadership
- Coordinate annual audits, tax preparation, and other regulatory reporting
- Supervise, train, and support accounting team members
- Improve accounting procedures, reporting processes, and operational efficiency
- Partner with department leaders to support budgeting and financial decision-making
- Maintain relationships with external accountants, auditors, financial institutions, and vendors
- 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience
- Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar role
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls
- Experience managing month-end and year-end close
- Prior supervisory or team-lead experience
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with ERP or accounting software
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred
- CPA or CMA certification is a plus but not required
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with senior leadership
