Controller, Accounting, Financial Reporting

Compensation: $90,000 - $130,000 DOE

An established and growing company in San Marcos is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and support the organization’s financial health. The ideal candidate has a well-rounded accounting background, prior leadership experience, and the ability to balance hands-on accounting responsibilities with financial oversight and strategic support.

• Oversee general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management
• Manage month-end and year-end closing processes
• Prepare and review financial statements, balance-sheet reconciliations, and management reports
• Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash-flow projections
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
• Analyze financial performance and provide meaningful insights to company leadership
• Coordinate annual audits, tax preparation, and other regulatory reporting
• Supervise, train, and support accounting team members
• Improve accounting procedures, reporting processes, and operational efficiency
• Partner with department leaders to support budgeting and financial decision-making
• Maintain relationships with external accountants, auditors, financial institutions, and vendors

• 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience
• Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar role
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls
• Experience managing month-end and year-end close
• Prior supervisory or team-lead experience
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience with ERP or accounting software
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred
• CPA or CMA certification is a plus but not required
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with senior leadership
