Collections Clerk

Description

You don't have to be a "collections person" to be great at collections.

A busy property management organization in San Marcos is looking for a Collections Clerk to help monitor tenant accounts and resolve outstanding balances.

This role combines customer service, accounting, and problem-solving, making it a strong fit for someone who enjoys working with people but also wants a position that has clear financial responsibilities.

You'll communicate with tenants, property managers, and internal accounting teams to research balances, identify discrepancies, and keep accounts moving toward resolution.

Your responsibilities

+ Monitor tenant accounts and outstanding balances

+ Review aging reports for overdue accounts

+ Contact customers regarding unpaid balances

+ Send account statements and payment reminders

+ Research payment discrepancies and account history

+ Document collection activity in the property management system

+ Coordinate with Property Managers regarding account issues

+ Process account adjustments when approved

+ Assist with payment posting and account reconciliation

+ Respond to customer questions regarding balances

+ Track payment arrangements and follow-up dates

+ Prepare recurring collections reports

Requirements

The ideal candidate

+ 1-2 years of collections, billing, customer service, or accounting experience

+ Strong written and verbal communication

+ Comfortable discussing money and outstanding balances professionally

+ Strong attention to detail

+ Good Excel and computer skills

+ Able to handle confidential account information

+ Organized and persistent without being confrontational

+ Property management or real estate experience is a plus
