Collections Clerk

Description

A growing business services company is looking for a Collections Clerk to join its accounts receivable team. This is an excellent entry-to-mid-level opportunity for someone who is comfortable communicating with customers, enjoys staying organized, and wants to build a career in accounting and receivables.

You'll help monitor customer accounts, follow up on outstanding balances, document collection activity, and work with the accounting team to resolve payment issues.

Responsibilities:

+ Review customer accounts for past-due balances

+ Contact customers by phone and email regarding outstanding invoices

+ Send payment reminders and collection correspondence

+ Document all collection activity accurately

+ Research account discrepancies and payment questions

+ Review invoices and supporting documentation

+ Apply customer payments and assist with account updates

+ Escalate unresolved disputes to the appropriate team

+ Work with AR and customer service teams to resolve account issues

+ Maintain accurate aging reports

+ Follow established collection procedures

+ Assist with account reconciliations

+ Track promises to pay and follow up accordingly

+ Prepare basic AR and collections reports

+ Assist with other accounting projects as needed

Requirements

+ 1+ year of collections, accounts receivable, billing, or customer service experience

+ Strong verbal and written communication

+ Comfortable making collection calls

+ Professional and confident phone presence

+ Strong attention to detail

+ Basic understanding of invoices and customer accounts

+ Excel experience

+ Accounting or ERP software experience is a plus

+ Strong follow-through and organization

+ Comfortable handling multiple accounts and deadlines
