Accounts Receivable Specialist

Description

A growing healthcare organization in North County is looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join its accounting team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys the investigative side of AR - researching payments, resolving discrepancies, cleaning up aging balances, and figuring out why an account isn't paying as expected.

You'll work closely with Billing, Accounting, Customer Service, and Operations to keep receivables accurate and moving.

What You'll Do:

+ Manage an assigned portfolio of customer accounts

+ Monitor AR aging and prioritize collection activity

+ Post and reconcile incoming payments

+ Research unapplied cash and short payments

+ Investigate billing and account discrepancies

+ Contact customers regarding outstanding balances

+ Prepare account statements and payment documentation

+ Process credits, adjustments, and approved write-offs

+ Reconcile AR subledger activity to the general ledger

+ Research historical account activity when payment issues arise

+ Maintain detailed notes regarding collection activity

+ Partner with Billing to correct invoice issues

+ Assist with month-end AR reconciliations

+ Prepare recurring AR reports and aging schedules

+ Support audit requests and special accounting projects

Requirements

+ 2+ years of Accounts Receivable experience

+

Experience with cash application and account reconciliation

+ Strong Excel skills

+ Comfortable working with aging reports

+ Excellent attention to detail

+ Strong written and verbal communication

+ Healthcare, medical billing, or insurance experience is a plus

+

Experience with an ERP or accounting system preferred
