Job Overview
Under general supervision, the Administrative Assistant supports multiple functional areas within the Alumni Engagement & University Events department, including Alumni Engagement, Annual Giving, Events and Conference Services, Commencement, and Community Outreach. This position independently provides a full range of office and administrative support to the AVP of Alumni Engagement & University Events, ensuring efficient day‑to‑day operation of the department while also providing occasional general event support.
The Administrative Assistant serves as a key administrative resource for the department, independently coordinating administrative processes, event support, and program logistics for the functional areas within the department. As the first point of contact, the Administrator manages phone, email, and in‑person communications with alumni, donors, university partners, vendors, and other external constituencies, interacting with staff, administrators, and high‑level external constituents in a fast‑paced environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient.
A high level of professionalism and confidentiality is crucial in this position.
Alumni Engagement Administrative Assistant (Administrative Support Assistant II) – this is a full‑time, non‑exempt position that will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period.
Pay, Benefits, and Work ScheduleAnticipated Hiring Salary Range: $3,565 – $4,015 per month (step 1 – step
7). CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,565 – $5,092 per month. Salary is commensurate with the background and experience of the individual selected. This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave, and 15 paid holidays each year (14 scheduled on specific days and one Personal Holiday that may be taken at any time).
The position is also eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
