Job Overview
Under the general direction of the Director of the Office of Success Coaching, the Success Coach will play a critical role in the support and retention of first year students s position utilizes a case management approach to serve students and extend personalized and proactive retention strategies via academic, financial, and personal development. In consultation with the Director, this position identifies student needs and develops strategies and interventions to support students.
Success Coaches serve as the point of contact for their specific caseload of students and provide guidance on academic planning, general education requirements, campus resources, retention, involvement strategies, and more. Each Success Coach serves on a planning team within the Office of Success Coaching such as
1) program/event planning;
2) student communication plan;
3) onboarding, training, and development;
4) operations;
5) campus visibility/partnership. In collaboration with the Director, the Success Coach represents the Office of Success Coaching and CSUSM at related meetings and serves as a resource to university staff, faculty, parents, CSU Chancellors Office, and community leaders by cultivating and maintaining relationships and partnerships.
Position Summary
Success Coach (Student Services Professional II)
Responsibilities- This is a full-time, exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period.
- Provide proactive, case-managed academic, financial, and personal support to first-year CSUSM students to enhance retention, success, and campus engagement while collaborating across university partners.
Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,083 per month
CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,083 - $7,228 per month
Salary is commensurate with the background and experience of the individual selected.
This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year; 14 scheduled on specific days and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year.
