The Department of American Indian Studies at California State University, San Marcos invites a part‑time lecturer to teach AIS 260: RUMBLE:
American Indians and Rock & Roll. This course examines how Native American culture and music have influenced mainstream U.S. popular music and the global Rock & Roll tradition, addressing themes of race, gender, social equity, and the historical suppression and celebration of Indian music.
Teach the full course syllabus, develop lesson plans, facilitate class discussions, and evaluate student performance in accordance with university standards.
Minimum Qualifications- Master’s degree or equivalent in American Indian Studies or a related discipline
- Compliance with the California State University Out‑of‑State Employment Policy (employment must be performed within California)
- Higher education teaching experience
- Demonstrated intercultural competence and commitment to serving the campus community in teaching and service
Anticipated hiring salary range: $5,507 – $8,000 per full‑time month. Salary schedule information for Lecturer‑Academic Year Classification (effective 7/1/24):
Lecturer A – $5,507 – $6,677 per full‑time month;
Lecturer B – $6,221 – $13,224 per full‑time month. The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
