The Department of Computer Science at California State University San Marcos seeks a part‑time lecturer for the Bachelor of Computer Information Systems Chula Vista program to teach CS 310:
Social Issues and Professional Practices in Computing. This 16‑week course will be taught in‑person, from 8/31-12/12/26, schedule TBD.
Examines the larger societal context of computing to develop an understanding of the relevant social, ethical, legal and professional issues. Covers social context, professional ethics, intellectual property, privacy, professional communication, safety, reliability, and sustainability. Exposes students to different areas within computer science while developing technology solutions to undesirable effects of computing technology and the internet.
Qualifications- A Bachelor of Science degree
- Experience teaching, or equivalent practical experience in computing using a variety of technologies and tools
- Communication and presentation skills
- Course design – ability to design a well‑structured syllabus and select appropriate course materials or adapt existing materials
- Continuous learning and adaptability – commitment to staying up‑to‑date with the latest techniques and developments
- Per the California State University’s Out‑of‑State Employment Policy, employment must be within California
- A Master of Science degree or related field or equivalent industry experience
- Experience teaching or mentoring in topics related to computing tools and technologies
- Experience teaching, as a course instructor or teaching assistant, especially in computing areas
- Preference for applicants demonstrating intercultural competence and commitment to serving a diverse campus community in teaching and service
- Anticipated Hiring Salary: $2,279 per Weighted Teaching Unit (WTU)
- CSU Classification Salary: $2,279 per Weighted Teaching Unit (WTU)
