The Department of Modern Language Studies at California State University San Marcos accepts applications on an on‑going basis for the pool of part‑time lecturers. Salary is commensurate with credential and experience.

The applicant pool is used for short‑term temporary lecturer positions across the campus, ranging from one day to a full semester. Appointments may be for the current academic year and will close effective May 31, 2027. To be considered for the next academic year, a new application must be submitted by June 15, 2026.

Qualifications
  • A master’s degree in Spanish, French, or German
  • Compliance with California State University’s Out‑of‑State Employment Policy

Preferred qualifications:

  • ABD or doctoral degree in the language of instruction
  • Experience teaching at the college/university level
  • Intercultural competence and commitment to serving the campus community
Salary

Salary commensurate with degree level and experience

  • Anticipated hiring salary range: $5,507 - $8,000 per full‑time month
  • CSU classification ranges:
    Lecturer A – $5,507 to $6,677 per full‑time month;
    Lecturer B – $6,221 to $13,224 per full‑time month
