The Department of Biological Sciences at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026to teach GES 102:
Matter, Molecules, Life, and the Environment II. There are multiple sections of this course, which can be taught in person, hybrid or completely online.
Description:
The second of a two-semester course consisting of integrated modules covering the areas of matter/energy, molecules, living systems, and environment. These modules will cover major concepts in the physical and biological sciences, emphasizing their application to real-world problems. Concepts covered will include the interactions of matter and energy, laws of motion, atomic structure of matter, structure and properties of molecules, principles of genetics, structure and function of living organisms, evolution, and interactions of organisms with each other and their environment.
Includes practical experience in the application of the scientific method through laboratory activities.
- A master’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Biological Sciences or related fields
- Per the California State University’s Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.
- A doctorate or equivalent in Biological Sciences, and related fields
- Experience teaching similar courses in 4-year universities
- Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving our campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service.
- Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,507 - $6,008 per full-time month
The salary schedule information for the Lecturer – Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges:
- CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer A - AY: $5,507 - $6,677 per full-time month
- CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer B - AY: $6,221 - $13,224 per full-time month
The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
