  • This position is expected to start in the Spring 2027 semester.
  • Interviews will require a live teaching demonstration. The hiring committee will decide if interviews will be conducted in person at the College or via Zoom. Travel expenses for first-level interviews are not reimbursed by the College. Second-level travel reimbursement is only available for eligible candidates. HR will notify those who are eligible when second-level interviews are scheduled.

Teaching assignments will include day, evening, and/or weekend classes at the San Marcos campus and/or off-campus locations as part of contract responsibilities, as well as distance education classes.

Full-time faculty are expected to participate fully in departmental activities and college governance and hold regular office hours.

Grade

  • Starting salary range: $77,011.42 – $ annually.
  • Academic training and teaching experience will form the basis for salary computation as determined by placement on the regular salary schedule of the College. A maximum of step 8 at the appropriate salary grade will be awarded to new faculty. Primary Function

The Assistant Professor, Emergency Medical Technologies is primarily responsible for teaching a variety of courses in the discipline of Emergency Medical Technologies; specifically for courses within the paramedic academy.

Because Emergency Medical Education classes are TOP
-coded for Career Technical Education ( CTE ), the selected candidate for the Assistant Professor, Emergency Medical Technologies must be willing to work with industry leaders in the community to maintain our courses’ relevance.

Minimum Qualifications

Must meet all qualifications listed under
1) and
3) below:

1. Must meet one of the sets of qualifications listed under a) through b):

a) Any bachelor’s degree or higher AND two years of professional experience in an allied health field.

b) Any associate degree AND six years of professional experience in an allied health field.

c) A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of the qualifications in either
1) or
2) above. You must complete and attach the Application for Equivalency form (
www.palomar.edu/hr/equivalency-app/ ), if you do not possess the specific minimum qualifications as stated above,
which includes degrees that have not been awarded at the time of submitting the application
.

2. Qualified by education and experience with at least 40 hours of documented teaching methodology instruction in areas related to methods, materials, and evaluation of instruction by time of appointment. Possession of one of the following certificates would meet this qualification:
