The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at California State University San Marcos seeks a part‑time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach CHEM 352L:
Protein Biochemistry Laboratory.
Introduces the theory and practice of modern protein biochemistry. Covers bacterial transformation, antibiotic selection, heterologous protein expression, cell harvesting, cell lysis, centrifugation, affinity chromatography, ion‑exchange chromatography, size‑exclusion chromatography, hydrophobic‑interaction chromatography, dialysis, ultrafiltration, protein precipitation, desalting, bioconjugation, SDS‑PAGE, UREA‑PAGE, densitometry, fluorescence spectroscopy, western blotting, enzyme activity assays, and in‑vitro translation.
Minimum Qualifications- A Master of Science in Chemistry
- Experience teaching chemistry at the college level
- Working in the State of California is a condition of employment (per CSU policy)
- A Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry
- Experience teaching a course in analytical chemistry or instrumental analysis
- Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving our campus community
Salary commensurate with degree level and experience. Anticipated hiring salary range: $5,507–$6,249 per full‑time month.
CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer A – AY: $5,507–$6,677 per full‑time month. Lecturer B – AY: $6,221–$13,224 per full‑time month. The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
