The Department of Biological Sciences at California State University San Marcos seeks a part‑time lecturer for Fall 2026 to lecture BIOT 460:
Scientific Communication in Biotechnology.

Course Overview:
The study of communication principles and rhetorical strategies employed to effectively communicate with intended audiences in the biotechnology industry. Students will apply this knowledge to plan, prepare, construct, and evaluate communication situations in which they serve as both producers and consumers of communication in careers related to biotechnology.

• Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Biological Sciences or related fields.
• Compliance with CSU’s Out‑of‑State Employment Policy: employment must be performed within California.

Preferred qualifications:

• Doctorate or equivalent in Biological Sciences or related fields.
• Experience teaching similar courses at four‑year universities.
• Demonstrated intercultural competence and a commitment to serving the campus community.

Salary:

• Anticipated hiring salary range: $5,507 – $8,000 per full‑time month.
• CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer A – AY: $5,507 – $6,677 per full‑time month.
• CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer B – AY: $6,221 – $13,224 per full‑time month.
