Position Overview
A part‑time lecturer appointment for Fall 2026 to teach AIS 260: RUMBLE:
American Indians and Rock & Roll. The position is located in the College of Humanities, Arts, Behavioral & Social Sciences, within the American Indian Studies Department. Day/Time and modality will be determined at a later date.
Explores how Native American culture and music influenced mainstream American popular music, focusing on race, gender, social equity, and the influence of American Indian music on rock ‘n’ roll in the United States and globally. Students will examine the legal suppression and commercial celebration of Native American music throughout history.
Responsibilities- Deliver lectures and facilitate class discussions for AIS 260.
- Prepare and provide relevant course materials, assignments, and assessments.
- Engage students in critical analysis of human diversity themes related to American Indian music and rock ‘n’ roll.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and course evaluations.
- Minimum: A master’s degree or equivalent in American Indian Studies or a related discipline.
- Preferred:
Higher education teaching experience; demonstrated intercultural competence; commitment to serving the campus community. - Candidates must be residents of California or willing to relocate, as employment must occur within the state.
- Anticipated hiring salary range: $5,507 – $8,000 per full‑time month (aligned with Lecturer A–B classifications).
