Course Description

Compares and contrasts American Indian traditional systems of knowledge with western constructs, provides an introduction to the legacy of Indian Boarding School policies, and evaluates the contemporary challenges that American Indians experience in educational systems such as high dropout rates, low college matriculation rates, and the impact of cultural differences embedded in these trends.

Qualifications

  • A master's degree or equivalent in American Indian Studies or related discipline
  • Working in the State of California is a condition of employment per the California State University’s Out-of-State Employment Policy

Preferred qualifications:

  • Higher Education teaching experience preferred.

Salary

  • Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,507 - $8,000 per full‑time month
  • CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer A - AY: $5,507 - $6,677 per full‑time month
  • CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer B - AY: $6,221 - $13,224 per full‑time month
  • The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
