Payroll Specialist

Description

A busy and growing construction services company in San Marcos is seeking a detail-driven Payroll Specialist to manage full-cycle payroll for a multi-state workforce. This role is critical to ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining strict compliance with wage and hour regulations. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys precision work and being the trusted expert for payroll operations.

Core Responsibilities

+ Process weekly and biweekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees

+ Review timecards, job codes, and union or prevailing wage requirements

+ Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations

+ Process garnishments, deductions, and benefit with holdings

+ Reconcile payroll reports and assist with month-end close

+ Respond to employee payroll inquiries professionally and promptly

+ Assist with year-end processes including W-2 preparation

+ Partner with HR and accounting to ensure data accuracy

Requirements

+ 3+ years of full-cycle payroll experience

+ Multi-state payroll experience strongly preferred

+ Knowledge of California wage and hour laws

+

Experience with payroll systems (ADP, Paycom, UKG, etc.)

+ Strong Excel and reporting skills

+ High level of accuracy and confidentiality

+ Construction or field workforce experience preferred
