- Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, student development, leadership or related field.
- Seven or more years of progressive leadership experience in student involvement, student activities, fraternity and sorority life, or related areas.
- Experience supervising full-time staff.
- Experience with large-scale programming and engagement initiatives.
- Experience with fiscal and budget management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Terminal degree (Ph.D./Ed.D) in higher education or related field.
- Experience at a large public institution.
- Ten or more years’ experience in student affairs or student success leadership roles.
- National experience as a leader in student affairs, student success, fraternity and sorority life, or student activities organizations.
- Experience building successful teams including supervision, program development, and evaluation.
- Experience providing strategic direction and leadership of high-level divisional and university-wide committees.
Job Description The Executive Director of Student Involvement and Engagement (SI&E) provides vision, leadership, and executive oversight for a comprehensive portfolio that promotes student success through student organizations, fraternity and sorority life, community-wide programs and traditions, and leadership and service programming. As a member of the Division of Student Success’ leadership team, the Executive Director aligns SI&E’s initiatives with university and divisional priorities to engage students, foster belonging through individual and community connections, and create a student leader experience that enhances learning.
Utilizing the Student Success framework, the Executive Director leads an intentionally designed co curricular experience that supports retention, persistence and holistic development that best supports Texas State students.
Job Duties
Departmental Leadership and Administration
- Provide executive oversight for all functional areas within Student Involvement and Engagement, including student involvement, student organization development, leadership & service, Fraternity and Sorority Life, and operations (marketing and assessment).
- Develop, oversee and advance the departmental strategic planning process.
- Establish and advance departmental priorities in alignment with divisional and institutional goals.
- Provide direct supervision and development for the department’s senior staff, and indirect supervision of all other members of the department.
- Provide strategic budget management and development, including budget development at the enterprise level.
- Maintain appropriate risk management practices for large-scale events and student organizations activities in collaboration with university partners.
- Serve as the primary advisor to Student Government.
- Serve as the architect for student engagement efforts across the portfolio, including designing initiatives that promote student development, responsibility, and reaffirm students’ institutional choice.
- Support and advance the development of engagement opportunities that connect students with university culture and traditions, foster school spirit and deepen connections to the broader community.
- Work closely with colleagues across the institution, alumni, advisors and other stakeholders to align engagement efforts with institutional goals and outcomes.
- Develop meaningful assessment strategies related to student engagement, participation data, and program outcomes.
