Spear & Associates, Inc., a well‑established civil engineering and land surveying firm serving North San Diego County for over 30 years, provides services throughout San Diego County to private developers, public agencies, and industrial clients. We are known for delivering accurate, reliable results and maintaining long‑term client relationships, and are seeking an experienced Survey Party Chief to lead field crews on projects across Southern California.

This

position is ideal for a reliable, detail‑oriented professional with strong field experience in boundary, topographic, and construction staking surveys. Pay

$35.00 – $50.00 per hour (DOE)

Responsibilities
  • Lead field crews on boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and construction staking projects
  • Operate GPS (GNSS) and robotic total station equipment
  • Perform boundary and construction staking, and topographic data collection
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and defensible field notes and records
  • Coordinate with project managers and office staff to meet schedules
  • Perform basic field calculations and ensure quality control of collected data
Requirements
  • 3+ years of land surveying experience (Party Chief or Crew Lead)
  • Strong knowledge of boundary and construction staking procedures
  • Experience with GPS/GNSS and robotic total stations
  • Valid California driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Ability to work independently in the field
  • Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • LSIT certification or working toward licensure
  • Basic CAD or survey data processing experience
