Job Role s and Responsibilities
Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to determine project scope and requirements.
Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services using estimating software.
Develop project budgets by estimating material quantities from blueprints and calculating associated costs.
Negotiate with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to obtain competitive pricing and favorable terms.
Manage multiple estimating projects while tracking costs and maintaining alignment with project schedules and budgets.
Utilize construction management software to monitor project progress, control costs, and update estimates.
Collaborate with clients and internal teams to communicate estimates, assumptions, and scope changes.
Review construction contracts to ensure accurate cost representation and compliance with project requirements.
Conduct site visits as needed to gather information for accurate estimating.
Maintain organized records of estimating activities for future reference and audits.
Qualifications and CertificationsProven experience as a Construction Estimator in commercial construction.
Experience with commercial drywall, metal stud framing, and acoustical ceilings preferred.
Proficiency with Plan Swift and Bluebeam estimating software.
Strong knowledge of construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, technical specifications, and contracts.
Strong negotiation skills with vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
Experience with cost estimating, budgeting, and cost control for commercial construction projects.
Experience estimating material quantities from construction drawings.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Construction site experience is highly preferred.
Strong understanding of construction management principles, project management, and contract administration.
