Job Description

The Coordinator for Living Learning Communities (LLCs) will work to support the unit and aid in the complete process of the living-learning recruitment cycle and placement. This role will also collaborate with academic units, faculty advisors, and student success services to provide a robust, integrated living-learning experience within the residence halls. The Coordinator for LLCs will manage campus-wide events and engagement opportunities for living-learning community and theme housing, in line with the student success and residential engagement model framework.

Additionally, this position will support LLC outreach efforts through initiatives such as Bobcat preview days and various timeline communications and reminders. This position will report to the Assistant Director for Living Learning Communities in the Residential Experience unit within the Department of Housing and Residential Life at Texas State University.

Job Duties LLC Recruitment and Management
  • Support the complete process of a living-learning community cycle, including recruitment, placement, and first-year course registration.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and the Housing Assignments Coordinator to ensure accurate bed counts and LLC spaces.
  • Advise the Living Learning Communities Activities Board and all programmatic initiatives.
  • Endorse and track student completion of the living learning community medallion program.
  • Collaborate with academic colleges and schools to achieve intended outcomes of the program and the university
  • Coordinate individual co-curricular and community development experiences with each community’s faculty and staff team.
Community Engagement Initiatives
  • Collaborate with in-community staff for in-person activities, systematic follow-up, and student support.
  • Identify student needs and create strategic large-scale programs to engage LLC/TC students that provide a sense of mattering and belonging.
  • Interpret student engagement data to evaluate community engagement initiatives from an operational and student experience perspective.
  • Support the development of an on-campus returning student model as it relates to community engagement.
Unit Administration
  • Respond to emails and calls from residents, potential students, faculty, and staff regarding living learning committee and theme housing options.
  • Assess programs and initiatives to ensure the event optimally achieves goals and success indicators.
  • Collaborate with Communications team for marketing and social media presence.
  • Coordinate with department staff to align engagement data with persistence, academic, and development data.
Departmental and Divisional Partnerships
  • Collaborate with Student Learning Assistance Center and LLC student leaders to promote supplemental instruction, tutoring, writing services, and other academic support to learning community students.
  • Assist with student staff recruitment, developing training and ongoing development sessions for paraprofessional staff, professional staff, and faculty related to the LLCs.
  • Collaborate with other Division of Student Success departments to support division and university-wide strategic priorities.
