Assistant Professor of Instruction in Economics
The Department of Finance and Economics in the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University seeks outstanding educators to contribute to its teaching mission by inviting applicants for an Assistant Professor of Instruction position to begin in Fall 2026.
An Assistant Professor of Instruction is a full-time, nine-month faculty position in a promotion-eligible track. The instructional faculty appointment is aligned with Texas State University's commitment to enhancing its capacity and productivity in teaching, learning, and instructional contributions. The primary responsibility and workload of an instructional faculty member is to provide effective teaching. In addition to instruction, appointments will include responsibility for service through course or program coordination, professional outreach, committee membership, and other activities aligned with instructional activities and outcomes.
This position is renewable for every academic cycle.

About the Department of Finance and Economics
The Department of Finance and Economics is one of five departments in the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University. With more than 40 faculty members, it is a large, multidisciplinary academic unit committed to innovative teaching, impactful research, and student success. Faculty expertise spans investments, corporate finance, financial derivatives, banking, economics, and business law.
The department offers Bachelor's degrees in Finance and Economics and a STEM-designated Master's degree in Quantitative Finance and Economics, which equips students with advanced skills in econometrics, data analytics, and financial modeling. In addition, the department contributes extensively to McCoy College's MBA programs and supports the newly launched Online Doctor of Business Administration (DBA).

Required Qualifications
* Master's degree or higher in Economics or a closely related field, with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in economics.
* At least two years of experience teaching economics at the university level.
* A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in industry or demonstrated leadership experience in other sectors (e.g., nonprofit organizations, military service, or public service).
Preferred Qualifications
* Ph.D. in Economics or a closely related field.
* Substantial industry or leadership experience, particularly with organizations based in Texas.
* Demonstrated record of effective teaching across instructional modalities, including in-person and online formats.
