Responsibilities
Faculty teach courses, prepare lesson plans, develop assessments, and maintain accurate student records for both Full-time and Part-time positions. Responsibilities include delivering engaging, student-centered instruction, evaluating student performance, and providing timely feedback to support learning and retention. Faculty collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, participate in departmental and college meetings, and align courses with institutional and accreditation standards. Additional duties may include holding regular office hours, advising or mentoring students, integrating technology and active learning strategies, and contributing to continuous improvement of academic programs.
This is an on-site role located in San Marcos, TX, requiring regular presence on campus.
- Discipline-specific expertise in one or more areas:
English (ENGL), Biology (BIOL), Mathematics (MATH), Psychology (PSYC), Arts/Drama (ARTS/DRAM), Economics/Business-related fields (ECON/BUSI), History (HIST), or Developmental Education. - Academic preparation that meets regional accreditation standards for teaching at the college level (typically a master’s degree with appropriate graduate hours in the teaching discipline; a related bachelor’s degree with significant professional experience may be considered for certain areas or developmental courses).
- Demonstrated teaching skills, including course planning, syllabus development, assessment design, and the use of varied instructional strategies to support diverse learners.
- Ability to use educational technology and learning management systems to deliver content, track performance, and communicate with students effectively.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to an inclusive, student-centered learning environment.
- Ability to work on-site in San Marcos, TX, maintain reliable attendance, and adhere to scheduled class times and campus obligations.
- Commitment to the college’s mission, including supporting student success, continuous improvement, and service to the community.
- Previous college-level teaching experience and experience working with first-generation, nontraditional, or underprepared students; not required, but ideal.
