Creative and Technical Writer

Supports academic researchers and does not conduct independent research. Not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities of this position include supporting the development and writing of high-quality, highly competitive proposals submitted to external agencies for sponsored funding.

  • Co-write and co-develop proposals for funding to be submitted to private and public sponsors.
  • Create, co-create, and implement workshops and trainings in grantsmanship, in collaboration with Research Development colleagues and other campus stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with campus stakeholders who support the research enterprise.
  • Communicate clearly and openly with team members on shared workload to ensure coverage and eliminate duplicated efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, humanities, or technical writing.
  • Three to five years of full-time writing experience (excluding writing of web content and social media content).
  • Advanced writing, editing, and oral communication skills needed for presentations, trainings, and meetings.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and collaborative endeavors.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in science, engineering, humanities, or technical writing.
  • Five years of full-time grant writing experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and synthesize faculty research.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, delivering, and evaluating trainings and workshops for professionals.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
