INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT

PRIMARY FUNCTION Assist teachers in preparation and execution of classroom activities and management.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Promote the mission and philosophy of Ki Charter Academy
• Assist teachers/students in academic success as well as measuring and tracking results
• Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teachers; work with individual students or small groups
• Maintain a positive working relationship with teachers, administration and facility members
• Help maintain administrative records and prepare required reports in a neat and orderly classroom
• Respond to directives from teachers and administrative staff in an efficient and timely manner
• Maintain classroom and manage students when the teacher is away
• Help supervise students throughout the day, inside and outside the classroom
• Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter
• Communicate professionally and courteously with students, faculty, facility and staff members
• Organize materials and adapt lessons for the specific academic needs of the students or assist teachers in preparing instructional materials
• Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings and special events as assigned
• Manage and instruct students in a classroom and laboratory situation in a temporary or long-term situation
• Utilize computers effectively in the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities
• Keep teachers informed of special needs or problems of individual students
• Evaluate students' progress and provide meaningful feedback and positive reinforcement as directed
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

• Requirements Instructional Aide Certification II, or III, or 15 Semester Hours of college credit and 1 year working with students
• Special knowledge and skills:
  Ability to manage behaviors
• Strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills
• General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
• Knowledge of subjects assigned
• At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
• Associate degree preferred
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required
