Job DescriptionFinancial Aid & Scholarships seeks a financial aid professional to work on the office’s Grants & Special Programs team. Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Program Specialist is responsible for awarding financial aid and/or scholarships, managing specific financial aid or scholarship programs (including writing and maintaining procedures), exercising professional judgment relative to special circumstances, and occasionally counseling students.
ResponsibilitiesThe Program Specialist will ensure the effective management of federal, state and institutional financial aid and scholarship programs, determine student eligibility by reviewing exception lists, award students according to university packaging parameters, and exercise professional judgment regarding financial and other documents related to mitigating circumstances. The position is also tasked with keeping abreast of all pertinent federal and state financial aid regulations and making recommendations to ensure effective, efficient, and compliant team operations.
